Centre-back Distin, 36, is dreaming of a place in next season’s Champions League but has been astonished to find that not everyone at Goodison Park feels the same way. He told British national newspapers: "We’ve spoken about it with some of the staff and said: ‘What if we have to beat City to be in the Champions League, but by doing that Liverpool win the league?’

"The funny thing is, some people would rather we don’t get Champions League [football] as long as (Liverpool) don’t win the league. It’s mad.

"Personally, I’d rather be in the Champions League. You can’t miss a chance for that. It would be amazing for the city if both clubs made it. I think deep down both sets of fans would like it if both clubs were in it."

I don't doubt there's an element of the support base that feel like this. After all they are affectionately knows as the 'bitters' for a reason.

I would reckon the majority are thinking CL football. I may be wrong though.

One thing that is for sure is Martinez and the majority of the players will be solely focused on CL, as opposed to disrupting our title hopes.

The players can't think like that, surely!? I don't care what their fans think, it's up to the players and manager to decide what happens after all.

Anyway, I don't live in Liverpool so I don't know what it's like, but I as a Liverpool fan hope that Everton finish in the top 4 even if we don't win the league.

3 points in the bag. Up next is Norwich which would be a difficult affair. Players like Redmond, Snodgrass and Wolswinkel have the ability to hurt us.

Bassong is a doubt for them but otherwise they have a full squad.

We'll be missing Enrique, Henderson and maybe Sturridge.

Chelsea's remaining fixtures are against Sunderland(H), Liverpool(A), Norwich(H) and Cardiff(A).

Man City faces Sunderland(H), WBA(H), Palace(A), Everton(A), Villa(H) and West Ham(H).

if sunderland can score 2 then they most likely will take the points off the chavs  :nod  everton losing will also mean that they will have to go hard at city looking for a win to keep their hopes alive.
great night of results for us and it now gives us room should we draw one of our remaining games

Yep, 10 points from our last 4 games would mean that no one could catch us, that won't be easy though, Chelsea came here last season when we were playing great stuff under Brendan and played us off the park for an hour, the game only changed when Sturridge came on and outside of the top 4 Palace looks the toughest place to go in the entire division ATM.
Still plenty of work to do.

I'll be off my Viagra for the next month or so...I kept the league table handy on my phone's wallpaper and this seems to work much faster than any medication. All my friends must have thought I'm ultra friendly recently  :hearts ...  :wwww

i have a feeling the fate of this year lies on the shoulders of Coutinho and Sterling ,when all eyes are turned to Luis/Stevie/Daniel it will be those two little magicians that will decide the ending.

Those 2 have been our best players of late (along with Skrtel who's been a bit of an unsung hero).
