Liverpool Football Club - Games

After United lost we just had to win and we did that. We lost to the bottom 2 the other week so today was a good win.

No more slip ups from here on in, as every point is crucial.

Great result even a pretty easy win but im still left with this sentiment that something is missing..We transformed to a counter attack team only... Leicester?

Porto will be a huge challenge they are in top form it will be quite a task.

Penny seems to have dropped we dont need to chase 4+ goals and attempt to pulverise teams every week, get ahead and control the situation. Van Dyk may have been the catalyst for that as I presume they feel he is able to self manage that back line.

In 2 weeks we can go 2nd with a home win against West Ham whilst Utd face Chelsea the day after, big game.

Should have bagged a few more towards the end and goal difference could be significant with it being tight for those 3 Champs League slots.

The three points are most vital in this win, a very patchy game in some period of the first half, and as usual on top of the pile are Salah, CAN, and Virgil he had a good game, future captain for sure.

So Algy no mention for the "dud" Firmino?

It was a good win and crucial 3 points which keep us breathing behind mannures necks. The way things are going anyone from Us, Chelsea, Mannure and Spurs can finish 2-4th.
All we just have to do is keeping on getting the wins.

If I'm right, we still have away games remaining at Man Utd, Everton and Chelsea, so they will be tricky affairs, so still a lot of twists and turns to come...

We could do with banging a load in v West ham (ie: 5-0) as goal difference could be crucial come May.

Was very impressed with VVD today, was solid as a rock and is starting to command the back line. Firmino, Karius and Salah also stood out.

Overall I rate our performance 7/10.

Yup a second successive good performance from Karius.

In the next few weeks i think the others will be facing each other. Spurs next tough games will be in April vs City and Chelsea but inbetween they have got quite a few cup games.

The race for champs league spot will be interesting.

The relegation battle is going to be equally as fascinating this year as well, there are just 5 points separating Watford in 11th and Stoke who are 2nd to bottom. Anyone in the bottom half can go down.

That "dud" has scored 20 goals and has 10 assists in all competitions so far.

There a clubs that have paid 20 to 30 million this season for players who haven't even got half those stats

Would hate to think what Algy thinks of them

I wouldnt mind it at all if we are winning like this week in week out. And this is also why I was not too critical about losing Coutinho and not buying his direct replacement. Klopp has done a very good job in building a team that softens the blow of losing coutinho. Of course it is still a blow when you lose your best player, but we are in a much better position to cope with it compared to last season. The purchase of Salah and having Mane, Firmino and Ox allows us to cope with losing couts. And the purchase of VVD and Keita will restore the spine that we didnt have for ages. The last two games we have been quite solid defensively, the 2 goals conceded to Spurs didnt reflect our defensive solidity in that game. Next season, we will be a much more balanced side and overall, the team should be better than when we had Coutinho.

A rather tame scoreline given what we're capable of at times. 2 goals, Mo continues scoring, clean sheet, no obvious chances for the opposition. Could it be that a £75m defender has steadied the backline.

Might be tempting fate here but Karius is settling down as well.

Bring on Porto then a week off
