Man City vs Liverpool Sat 9th Sept 12:30

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Wed Sep 06, 2017 8:32 pm

Back to the premiership with a big one against moneybags. Usually this fixture has a few goals in it and lives upto expectation.

Coutinho does well against City but i doubt he will get a start straight away after his escapades.

Last season this fixture finished 1-1 a late equaliser from City.

If we take the lead by a couple of quick goals i think we will win this.

Personally i think it will finish 1-1.

On paper at least this is our hardest game of the season. Personally speaking I'd take a draw all day long, in terms of a head to head contest if we can draw with City at their place and then turn them over at Anfield that would be 4 points from a possible 6 for us as 1 point from a possible 6 for them.
Obviously a win would be absolutely fantastic but it's a big ask.

I wont bet against us winning this game... last season we did very well in away games against the top 6. And I wont bet against our fans getting carried away after winning this game only to be disappointed in December and January as strugglw with injuries and a thin squad... :rasp

Exciting times ahead mate plenty of interesting fixtures ahead.

After City we've got Sevilla, Burnley a double with Leicester(efl) and then Sparta, all in September. :D
Plenty of footy :)

Can't wait for this one.  We are mentally in a very very good place.  It will be very interesting to see the team selection.  We need Coutinho in games like this and it really is time to put the summer behind us. I would start him and see just how well he does in the first 45 minutes. Klopp  has got to get the lads head in the right place and putting him on the bench wouldn't necessarily be the best decision.

It will also be interesting to see if Sterling starts as his head possibly isn't in the greatest place after being offered as bait to Arsenal as part of the Sanchez deal !! Isn't karma wonderful

We should do well as they play football like Arsenal rather than defend deep. They are better this year but I still think we will compete. I'll say 2-1 to us.

From Klopps words looks like Coutinho won't feature against City.

Was an incredible game last year, both sides stuck to their guns and played how they wanted to play. I expect the same but more goals this time. I'm not feeling particularly fearful of them, they like to play which should suit us more than those in the bottom half of the table.

The problem with these early kick off's on a Saturday is if you lose it ruins the whole friggin weekend.
Doesn't look like Coutinho is in the squad either, Jurgen wants to put him through an intensive training program to get him fitter. Phil might feature midweek against Seville but he's got 4 or 5 days of hard running to do.

Kompany is out for city which is great news for us.

If we can get to a good start I'm positive we will get a result.

I wish Jurgen would have at least put Phil on the bench as an insurance policy.

Kompany being out is a major blow for them. They will miss his presence bigtime.
Yup i would have liked Couts at least on the bench, we could've chopped things up if we needed to via Couts and Ox.
