Liverpool VS Porto 6/3 19.45pm k.o.

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Ghost of Shankly » Mon Mar 05, 2018 6:28 pm

I'd rest Salah, Firmino and VVD for this match. No need to risk them with the big match coming up Saturday.
Team I'd play :
Migs
Gomez Matip Lovren moreno
Lallana milner can
Oxlade-Cham solanke/ings mane

That would be enough to see us through.

Yup rotation is expected with the big weekend match.

I'd rest Can for the mannure game and let Hendo play this one.

I wouldn't rotate too much lets get the work sorted out today. Porto will be coming to try and get back at us and i don't want a makeshift squad which might get behind 1-2 goals...

BTW if someone needs to rotate it's ManU which have Sevilla in a much critical game next Tuesday...

We're on a good run of form and we really don't need a nervy night at Anfield before the Utd game. We should rotate but keep the core. Play Karius, van Djik, Can or Henderson, Salah or Mane. Bobby is the one I'd leave on the bench.

Most important is no injuries in a game we don't have to risk our best players on.

Interested to see how we approach this. Barring an absolutely embarrassment we should be through but at the same time we don't want to lose the momentum we've been building, especially with a visit to the rats nest on the horizon

I definately wouldn't risk Salah. He is our most important player. Some may argue Firmino is our most important player, but I reckon Salah has more impact on the game.

the noise coming from Anfield is that Klopp says he won't rotate.

I reckon we will will win 3-1 as I think Klopp will not leave the fab three out. He's hardly going to field the reserves, is he!?

I'd rest as much as possible, especially our more important players. We actually have a good squad, we should use it.

This is what I'd play:

             Mignolet

  Gomez   Matip    Klavan   Moreno

            Henderson
        Milner    Wijnaldum

   Lallana               Mane
             Solanke

I'd play only Mane and Winnaldum against the mancs, so I'd sub them off at some point. Would like to see Woodburn get a chance. Maybe a cameo from Clyne as well.

You weren't a million miles away mate, I think Wijnaldum has got stomach bug (as has Woodburn) so you might have got even closer had everyone been fit and available.
Even though we are 5-0 up and playing at home Jurgen has decided to take no chances putting the likes of Salah and VVD on the bench, I thought he might have given them the night off completely.

A relatively strong team, but that's understandable given it's the CL. Only a fool would turn up with the reserves and risk a humiliating defeat.

Hopefully we get an early goal and bring on Ings at half time for Mane or Bobby.

Pretty uneventful first half other than Mane hitting the post. For some reason I was expecting a flat game.

Subs Firmino off is what I'd do
We don't have to press hard against this lot tonight. Save energy boys
