Thing about the red card is that the rule states a player may be sent off if he either hits an opponent, or attempts to hit an opponent.  Although I thought the red card was very harsh, you can easily see how it'd be interpreted by the ref, even if the ref knew he didn't make contact. But the ref obviously felt he did make contact.

Either way, it wouldn't be overturned if we attempted it, and it's hard to ultimately argue the ref got that wrong. Didn't Markovic have to sit out his first couple CL games with us because he had been sent off just as they were knocked out last year? What the f*ck is wrong with this kid?

It was a bolloxks sending off, but not the reason we lost because we've sucked all through the CL this season.
