Lg Cup semi Southampton v Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby woof woof ! » Wed Jan 11, 2017 1:56 pm

Surprised that I can't find a thread for this one   :lookaround

Maybe we're not bothered about cup runs ?

With Man U away coming up at the weekend have no idea what team Jurgen will field tonight .

Southampton are no mugs, but as it's the first leg I'll settle for a narrow win or draw at their place.

Smacks of desperation Woof when you have to start the thread   just hope that hasn't well and truly puts the mockers on everything !!

It will be very interesting to see just what team Kloppo decides to play.  The prospect of an exciting final against our arched enemies at Wembley is not one to be dismissed lightly.  I would dearly love to shove one up that smug pillock Mourinho and let's face it it's about time Klopp actually won a final! I am assuming that Hull won't produce a miracle at their place?

The timing of this game is awful with us having to play United at their  place on Sunday and I have a horrible feeling that Klopp will have that very much at the back of his mind.  The prize for winning the EFL cup is qualification for the Europa league and the prize for winning that is simply immense.  I know that we would all like to win the league and at worst qualify for the CL by finishing in the top four but to be honest I wouldn't mind a little bit of insurance as well.

As far as the kids are concerned the only one I would play is TAA and I would leave the rest at home.  This is a massive game for Southampton and they will play their best possible team. I think it would be very dangerous to play a weak team and rely on turning the result around at Anfield if we were to lose.

This is a difficult one and that is why Kloppo is paid £7.5m a year !!  I just hope he gets it right.

You don't qualify to the Semi's just to a put weak lineup.
I'm sure Klopp will field a strong Unit and i hope we see Coutinho ,he needs some game time before Sunday.

The lack of interest in this match or possibly the forum is somewhat bewildering.

OnlyMe. Hey mate for the first time ever it just looks as if you might be right   Kloppo has vowed to play his best team. I agree with you about Coutinho. It would be good for him to get some game time.

Well 2 games away from a return to Wembley again and a chance to win a trophy. Suppose silverware is silverware but both domestic cups have really been devalued for a long time now by teams not giving them that much importance (well until the quarters/semis anyway) as can be seen by the team we put out on the weekend. In years gone by players/fans alike would be gutted going out of the cups but attitude now seems to  'Oh well, nevermind, fewer games and can now fully focus on the league'. Still, only 3 games away from a cup and would be good to pick up a trophy under JK.

Southampton are struggling at the moment and I think if we grab an early goal, I can see us going on to score a few and pretty much putting the tie to bed

Team: Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge

Interesting to see Karius back. Hope for the lad and JK's sake that he has a good game because he could take a lot of flak as to be fair to Mignolet, he has been pretty sound since he came back into the team

Team looks ok. Karius is a worry. Not sure why Klopp has selected him.

Slow and predictable in posession and an individual error costs us a goal.

Southampton playing on the break and good chance of running straight through with Lucas protecting the back line.

Klavans missed the ball on an easy volley cleareance and it gave a simple ball for Saints lad to slip Redmond in who was played on side by Lovren.

Knife theough butter anyway with Lucas in CMF.

Lucas and Can in the MF like watching paint dry...And Firmino looks like a bag of chips..No sense of urgency and no creativity whatsoever...Karius MoTM
