Virgil Van Dijk unofficial thread

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby kazza » Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:59 pm

Virgil Van Dijk has chosen Liverpool over City and Chelsea. 60 million and 200,000 per week in wages. We have been begging for the owners to spend big and they have. I personally see him as a fantastic ball playing complete defender. 60 million sounds crazy but it's not my money so I just want us to add quality and he certainly is. He will help our defense to no end.

Increasingly looking like Klopp has pulled this off.

Apparently VVD was impressed by the fact that Klopp has spoken to him direct to convince him to join. According to Radio 5, the deal is £50m with £8m worth of add ons.
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

If this does get done then finally, FINALLY, our owners are paying for what they want than settling for second or third choices.

Im not even arsed what the prospects are, just we are showing intent and doing things the right way, acting like a big club for first in a very long time.

Maybe Peter Moore is just more efficient than Ayre, we wont really know but who cares. The £60m wont be up front and if we pay £12m a year over 5 years its nothing when your guaranteed a minimum of £150m a year just for being in the Premiership.

Lets build and keep the momentum going, Salah and Lacazette next?  :p

Holy Sh[it], the fee is absolutely ridiculous but fair dues to the lad for choosing us, not many would opt for us over City or Chelsea.

I hope this willingness to spend big dough is not a sign that Coutinho is off  :lookaround

This will be great news for the club if he signs but ... who is the source and where is the quote? I will be happier when we have something more concrete

Read somewhere that Sakho might be used to take some of the sting out of that price tag in a player plus cash deal.

One added bonus of signing VVD will be getting Carroll to nudge down that most expensive signing ever list.... second or third if we sign Salah. Third would be a much more respectable position for someone of his.....umm... talent.

Well Southamoton can feck right off if the reports are true that they want 75 million.

Whilst if we pull this transfer off for between 50-60 million , I applaud the club and klopp for acting like a big club and beating off City and Chelsea, the player himself is never worth 50 million pounds.
