Im surprised hes stuck it out this long in MLS and I get the impression its not been a great experience for him there.

Be amazed if he doesnt retire now and take a job in TV and maybe at Liverpool if something can be done.

Im not one for just handing jobs out and we are doing ok at the moment, personally I would rather he leave Klopp and his team to it now and not get involved at Liverpool. Whatever hes done before coming in now would change the dynamic given hes such a big Liverpool personality, we really dont need to upset the karma right now.

Maybe the club could offer him an ambassadorial role of some sort but as for him getting involved on the playing or coaching side of things not for me. I agree with parchpea, everything is going so well atm why do anything that could potentially upset the applecart?

Bizarre is right. A 32 year old with a groin infection followed by an ankle infection. An infection that requires a cast and crutches???

That is complete and utter bullsh'it. Either his injuries are different to what the club have said they are, or he's got some weird underlying medical disorder, which seems unlikely.

What is for sure is that repeated, prolonged injuries at his stage of career are not a good thing.

I told he has achilles tendonitis and the infection was around the tendon. had nothing to do with a cut.
Its strange that if it achilles tendonitis that it ended up in an infection, i think he had an op on his tendon to stop the tendonitis and saying he had a cut and an infection was the only way he could get away with being seen in a cast.

Interestingly, he covers this in his book, he had complete avulsion of his groin muscle requiring surgery. Despite it healing he had ongoing severe pain in his groin. He went for a second opinion in London and had scans which showed fluid around the muscle. He was sitting at home one night and pus started to come out of it, he was admitted to hospital to have it drained and the pain disappeared. He then got a scrap from Agger's studs in training which somehow developed into a full blown ankle joint infection which the physio spotted. He again required surgical drainage to sort it out. Very unlucky but amazing he recovered completely from both. It comes across in the book how tough he was.

He's not got a thread and he deserves one. He constantly pulls us out of the , he's our best player by a mile, he's probably the best player and most loyal player to ever play for Liverpool and he's a scouser aswell.

He is so under appriciated by our own and our manager its unreal and even when played upfront he's still our best player. He's stayed here and gave us all his best years and we've completely wasted him and not rewarded him with the titles he deserves.

I feel so sorry for him. Still, I think the lad desreves his own kissing thread!

I would hope he calls playing a day at the very least as nothing worse than watching a great player struggling in matches.

The lad has zero experience of management, why doesn't he give Rafa a call and ask to work with him for 2 years to learn the ropes, I'm sure Rafa would snap him up. Twelve months managing the reserves, 12 months as assistant manager then ready for a club like MK Dons.

As Gary Neville found out, there's more to managing than being a good player or pundit.

Liverpool clear favourites to re-sign Steven Gerrard: He's been backed heavily

LIVERPOOL are clear favourites to be Steven Gerrard's next club, according to the bookies.

Gerrard, 36, is still considering his next career move having left MLS outfit LA Galaxy following the conclusion of his contract.
He's been linked with the vacant manager's position at MK Dons, with preliminary talks underway after both parties made contact with each other.

Despite discussions being in the early stages, bookmakers BetStars believe Liverpool will be his next destination.
BetStars director of trading Ian Marmion said: "After calling an end to his 18-month American adventure, it looks like Steven Gerrard is on his way home.
"We price him at just 4/6 to make Liverpool his next destination, with his odds being slashed dramatically, after being 6/1 at the start of the week.

"The most likely outcome is that Steven Gerrard returns to Liverpool in a coaching role, initially working with academy prospects. Who wouldn't want to work under Jurgen Klopp?
"Despite starting the week as our favourites to land the Liverpool legend, Celtic remain in the frame at 15/8.
"Gerrard specialised in long-range net busters on the pitch and there’s still a chance that this particular long shot could come good."



Manager Jurgen Klopp has already said Gerrard is "always welcome" back at the club but any return would be in an off-field role.
Gerrard is taking his coaching badges and may see his former club as the ideal place to start a new chapter.

Think working with our youngsters whilst he himself is learning management skills from Klopp would be ideal for Gerrard.

Now hes officially retired from playing then maybe a return to work in development at Liverpool would be a nice thing. Initially I was concerned about this but assuming he can work and understand his role, not tread on toes, then yes bring him back. The club would also need to be careful, not too many TV appearances or questions about the first team on LFCTV, a quiet unassuming job. It will be difficult but thats how it needs to play out.
