Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby L-type » Sun Mar 20, 2005 5:46 am

Everton have reversed roles with The Reds this season as David Moyes' side have been camped out in the fourth position for most of the season.
The Toffees sit on a healthy seven-point advantage over Liverpool before their trip to Anfield, meaning a defeat would not be catastrophic to their dreams of securing Champions League football.
However, Moyes knows that a win would surely book their place in next season's top European competition - and at the expense of their local rivals.
With so much at stake, it means that this Merseyside derby has turned into one of the biggest games for a long time for both sides - and it should be an absolute cracker, live on Sky Sports on Sunday.
Everton are looking for their first league double over The Reds in 20 years, on the back of a scrappy 1-0 win at Goodison Park in the reverse.
Both sides have been in patchy form of late, with Liverpool's inconsistent displays frustrating their fans - as Rafa Benitez's men have been unable to capitalise on Everton's slip-ups to close the gap.
Liverpool have been superb in the Champions League, but their league form has been consistently inconsistent, and their only point out of nine came with a dire 0-0 draw at home to Blackburn on Wednesday.
Two strikers should make their derby debuts as Fernando Morientes and James Beattie are set to start the game.
Benitez could opt to play Morientes up front on his own with Luis Garcia in support, after watching Milan Baros frustrate against Blackburn.
Beattie is back after a three-game ban and Moyes should throw him straight back into the thick of things at Anfield, but Moyes has doubts over Mikael Arteta and James McFadden.
John Arne Riise should return to the starting line-up after starting on the bench, while Sami Hyypia should return after a stomach upset kept him on the bench on Wednesday.

Skysports.com Prediction: 2-1.
The stakes could not be higher and it promises to be a blood and thunder affair, but The Reds are desperate for a win and their skipper could inspire them to a vital victory.

Player to watch: Steven Gerrard

No really? I thoguht the player to watch tommorow would be dudek who'd score a hat trick.  Sorry if this seems pointless, but I thought it was kinda funny to find out someone hasnt written us off.  The sources I've checked favor Everton.

Lol and if according to lad brokes the odds of jamie carragher scoring in a 1-0 win against everton is 125/1, just reminded me of how long its been since he's scored.... has it really been 6 years?
__
Carra and 1-0 - 125/1
Can boyhood Blue Jamie Carragher score the only goal in a 1-0 Reds win over Everton on Sunday? Odds of 125/1 say he can. Place your bet now.

They make it sound like it's a sure thing  :D

Dudek will be the crucial player because his trademark clanger or lapses would undo any hard work the outfiels players put in.
