In this interview, Matip says Coutinho and Sturridge are the most talented.

It'll be funny if after we sold Sturridge, we'll struggle to find a talented striker like who we're trying to find a good keeper...

What a defender Matip is, and signed on a free, I think Matip and Lovren are easily the classiest CB pairing in the league and Liverpool have yet to be beaten when the two have linked up together at the back.

They've done well, but think the 2 CB's at spurs, Alderweireld and Vertonghen are probably the best partnership at the moment and no surprise they have conceded the least in the league. Who knows, if Matip and Lovren get to play together for a good length of time, they can push the partnership on and take it up a few levels

Nice stat that, cheers RBG.
Must admit I didn't realise Matip and Lovren were so effective together, it would be interesting to see how many goals we conceded in that sequence of games.

I think that stat says as much about our lack of squad depth, as it does about Matip and Lovern.

I like Matip a lot. He's easily our best CB and hoping we'll bring in someone equally as good to pair up with him as Lovern won't ever get through a whole season with injuries.

Over on RAWK someone reckons as a partnership they have conceded less than a goal a game, which is pretty impressive if true. Even if they are the answer though I still feel we need another top CB at the club, both Lovren and Matip have had spells out injured this season and I'm not sure Klavan or Gomez are good enough to step in for any significant length of time.
Sakho would be good enough but his future is up in the air, if he leaves we will deffo need to bring someone in.

He is definitely a class act and our best defender. I still think he could do with a better partner who doesn't desert his lines on a whim.
