From sky sports:

"Liverpool have made a fresh bid of £66.8m to sign Brazil international goalkeeper Alisson from Roma and are confident of agreeing a deal, according to Sky in Italy.

They also report that Alisson will not travel with Roma's squad for their International Champions Cup pre-season fixtures in the United States.

Liverpool have yet to comment on the potential deal.

Sky in Italy reported on Tuesday that a fee of 70m euros had been offered by Liverpool, although Roma wanted closer to 75m euros (£66.6m) to complete the deal, and that talks between the two sides are ongoing.

Sky sources had previously indicated Liverpool had no plans to bid for Alisson this summer, but that was earlier in the window when the Premier League club believed the Brazil international was going to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old made 49 appearances for Roma last season as he helped the Serie A side reach the semi-finals of the Champions League where they lost 7-6 to Liverpool over two legs.

Alisson played five times for Brazil at the World Cup in Russia where his side suffered a quarter-final defeat to Belgium."

With fee and personal terms reportedly agreed Alisson now has to pass the famous Liverpool medical, administered by robot clinicians in a secret underground mountain laboratory.

We know the club has hit problems with medicals before so we just hope the lads in top nick and FSG dont want to renegotiate the fee if hes a spot on his backside

The jealousy of our rivals is quite frankly laughable. They can no longer mock us about Karius so now it's the "Klopp said he didn't need to spend money to win the league"

Fact is Klopp now knows he needs to spend to win trophies.. all the top teams have exceptional squads that can compete for all trophies, we have had to rotate alot to keep player fit and have paid the consequences as our reserve players anit up to scratch.

Personal terms agreed, medical to come. Let's hope (unlike Fekir) he doesn't have a dodgy knee. :D

I'm much more confident now going into next season with a solid backline and keeper. Fabinho and Keita in front of them too, cant wait for this!
:buttrock

World record for a goalkeeper fee also. Is this a signal of intent from FSG!?? :nod

Amazing signing, exactly the kind of keeper we needed! The fee is obviously a bit expensive but those are the prices in today's market.

Wages reported not bad in football terms at £100k per week. Sometimes the fee reported includes add ons so could be just short of £60m basic. Heard someone say today a top club wouldn't put a £5m striker up front so why do it in goal? Which we did ofcourse. Feel FSG and Klopp finally realised moneyball and bargain hunting isn't a winning strategy. Ethically a more beautiful way to work than clinically just throwing cash but a necessity if you genuinely want to be an elite, successful club. One that retains its best players because they know other great players will keep coming in. Hopefully the Suarez and Couthino days are over now or less frequent. Big attitude change for us.

Great bit of business done early. He's a quality keeper whom real Madrid were contemplating signing at one point. I think if we get to the European cup final again you can be assured this fella isn't going to have a brain fart and throw the ball into his own net...    Twice. He's got an air of class about him and a fine beard.

Maybe not " moneyball" but we are getting a nice core of younger players that if Klopp can keep together will compete for years rather than just "next season". Our owners took their time in learning how to do it in a very competitive league but since they're following a long term strategy and using good business practices the fruits of their labor are and will start to come to fruition. We are becoming a really good team and just need to win some silverware to make it a great team. More excited about next year than in a very long while. Adding Allison is huge as we now have an exceptional team, next will be the squad and Shaqiri is a good start.

Big transfer.  Big money. Too much in my view, but that's the game today.

Given our well know GK problems, we were always going to overpay. Great to finally have a world class keeper.
