Anyone had any experience with Lymphona ?

Firstly, why I'm asking...

I've had a lump for five weeks now. I had it checked out about four weeks ago, they sent me for an X-Ray and it came back as a black lump and numourous other black lumps in my chest (on the X-Ray view) I was told it was a swollen lymph node and needed more testing.

I went to an ultra sound an biopsy appointment yesterday, from which they said the lump was too big to do a biopsy on and needed to be taken out. The radiography consultant and the doctor I saw both warned me it could be cancerous. Infact, the impression I got was that was what they were telling me it was however were unwilling to say this without having done the actual testing.

I've been booked in for an appointment tomorrow with a specialist and am hoping they can and will tell me A.S.A.P. what the score is.

Personally, I think I have a form of Lymphoma and am absolutely bricking it due to the effect this may have on my girl and my family.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of...

1. Treatment
2. How long it takes to recover
3. Symptoms

Or anything else they can share with me?

Really feel like I need to talk about this but I must admit its becoming quite difficult.

I've had a look on google, even though I was told not to... and most of it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Are you experiencing any of it's symptoms? (fever, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss, etc...)

Hopefully it's nothing serious and please do update us.

Easy for me to say Stu, but try not to get too far ahead of yourself - wait until they reach a diagnosis.

This times 100000000.

Both my wife and I received some very dim prognosis a little less than 2 years ago.  Hers ended up being very straightforward.  Surgery, done and dusted (can't have any more kids but seeing as I'm 41 and she's 39 that wasn't something we were worried about, we've got 3 and that's plenty).  Mine was a bit more dicey, but was able to get through it with a couple of surgeries and chemo (Throat cancer).  Surgeries were fairly simple. nothing too invasive.  Chemo was a bitch.  Wouldn't even wish it on a Manc.

Oh and one last  thing.  DO NOT TRY TO READ ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET!!!  Reading stuff on Web MD and such will just really mess with your head.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

I'm sure everything will be fine Stu, even if the worst happens (which I'm absolutely sure it won't) remember it's not 1970 anymore, the strides made (particularly over the last decade) in combatting that awful illness have been extraordinary.
I was even reading in the paper a while back that they are even developing enzymes that eat cancers.
The worry is horrible though mate, thoughts are with you pal.

1. Treatment
2. How long it takes to recover
3. Symptoms

Only one person I know and I don't know a lot but yes a couple of things.

In August my backup at job when I'm in holidays went to the doctor because he had a big grouth in the neck. All I know is that there was no pain, he just went because of the growth wich apparently appeared quickly. He was in hospital a couple of weeks. In January he whatsapped me saying the treatment went well. In April he was not ready yet to work and he told me that now it's a matter of doing controls to see how it goes. So right now, he's optimistic and he's removed the lymphoma, but not fully recovered because he still has to pass a control in summer. So it's being lengthy but not too hard

I don't know much him (just the guy who backups me at holidays so I can't see him much), but if you want further details I'll ask. I did ask whether the treatment was being harsh, and he told me that not that much. But I'll ask him. Walk on mate, you'll get well.

My post was about worst case scenario.

The other possibility is the one that the other mates are saying, a false alarm. Apparently the doctos never are rose tinted glasses when talking about what might be the chances. Cases of false alarms I know more than one :)

Thanks for the support lads it does mean a lot.

A small update since yesterday, I got up yesterday morning and went into work and had to come home. I discovered another small lump on the opposite side of my neck yesterday morning, hence me writing what I did yesterday. My head was a mess.

A couple of months ago I started to get (quite severe at times) back ache however have still felt pretty normal excluding that. Then last night I woke up twice. My back ache was probably more painful than when I had a small break in my foot in November on a larger scale. This morning after an absolutely fantastic massage :D the pain has moved from my back to my should/top of my arm and quite frankly I'm in constant agony. I am dosed up on paracetomol, Ibuprofen and tramadol but the pain is still there.

I have an appointment later with the surgeon and am hopeful myself... or my missus (she's a pharmascist) can talk the doctor into prescribing me morphine to get me through till i have the operation and some of the pressure is relieved. I will try and post a picture or two to show what I have if anyone is interested?

The other thing that is making this extremely difficult for me at the moment is my girl lost her mother to bowl cancer in 2002. This is extremely difficult for her to talk about still and I can't begin to imagine whats going through her head.

For some reason she loves me (punching well above my weight), but on a serious note, I can't imagine how hard this is for her. I'm more worried about the effects this could have on her than anything it can do to me. The thought of hurting her in this way terrifies the life out of me.

I do believe I've got cancer, not due to what I've read, but more so what the doctors have said to me and also from the results of the CT scan and X-Ray. It seems very much like they're just waiting for the opp to tell me exactly what kind. The only illness they mentioned to me was Cancer they did not say it could be anything else and their wording was such that I believe they already "have an idea" of what it is. The fact its in my chest and there are numourous lymph glands that have swollen only leave me with that real possiblity.

Will post later on to update on what the surgeon says. Thanks again for the support lads.

Stu. :)

Hope the news from the surgeon was good Stu. Villa certainly didn't help your day. Keep away from the internet. It's full of doom and gloom merchants which I discovered to my horror when my grand daughter was born nearly eight weeks premature and I was looking for some answers. Just keep your chin up mate and only talk and listen to your specialists. When it comes to stuff like this the NHS are one of the best in the world.

Best wishes,

In for biopsy on Monday morning. Doctor said he can't remove all the swelling due to the position its in near to many main artery's and veins. Bit gutting but is what it is. Hopefully what he can do will relieve the pressure and at least allow me to get a decent nights sleep instead of having to sleep sitting up on the couch...

Had restricted breathing yesterday and discovered that the lymph nodes around my heart were also the size of cricket balls. Its those that are contributing to back pain but they've also started to crush my lungs which is a bit sh*t.

30 years old, always played footy, fairly healthy and fit.... it really can happen to anyone!
